The Your Story Campaign

The Your Story campaign concept was developed to raise brand awareness for extremely local prospective students in the Burlington, West Burlington, New London, and Mount Pleasant markets.

This campaign incorporated data from national research to create a personal, emotional story that encouraged prospective students to connect with the institution while also showcasing the range of educational paths available at Iowa Wesleyan. Current students were chosen from the target markets for their diverse experiences. For photos and videos, students were encouraged to dress in any way they chose, bring props, and lead the setting choices and poses. Interviews were question driven and unscripted.

Music Department Theme Refresh

The Iowa Wesleyan Department of Music requested new promotional materials to promote the addition of new degree concentrations within the Music program. It was important to incorporate performance photography, but also show students in degree concentrations that were not performance based. The tagline was developed to speak to student creators about the Department of Music culture and community.

The Purple & White Alumni Magazine

The Purple & White was the semiannual alumni magazine for Iowa Wesleyan University, with
a history almost as long as its 181-year-old institution. After I received approved written content, I developed all layouts and selected photos or created graphics to provide context and interest.

I am inspired by contemporary magazine design with an emphasis on strong photography and plenty of white space. That inspiration prompted an extensive redesign of
the existing magazine to bring a fresh, younger appearance and an easier reader experience. My first issue in 2020 also features bold article cover pages, as it was initially released in digital only and had no budget requirements.

In addition to the nuts and bolts of design and revision, my tasks included vendor sourcing, acquiring estimates, and preflighting/troubleshooting with the vendor to stay within budget. The magazine featured a donation return envelope folded into the binding. It also functioned as a self-mailer with three tabbed edges.
